Ohio Vacancies Up 50% in Past Decade

From 2000 to 2010 the housing vacancy rate jumped 50% for the Buckeye state.  The Government Accountability Office released a report showing that the increase in Ohio housing vacancy is the 10th largest increase of the 50 Nifty United States.  The average increase of housing vacancies is 33% across the nation.  Apparently it’s a buyer’s market with 9.1% of Ohio houses being vacant.  Let the Dayton movers help you move into a recently vacant home.

The same report by the GAO states that Ohio has the highest increase in the number of vacant residential properties.  Ohio had the 18th biggest increase in unemployment and 8th largest increase of loans in foreclosure.

Increase in vacancies cost the taxpayers money.  It places a strain on police and fire departments and may use taxpayer money for housing maintenance or demolition.  The Cincinnati movers wish that every Ohioan has a able to have a roof over their head and if they need moving assistance we are more than happy to help.

First LEGO Tournament Will Be Hosted at Cincinnati State!

The First LEGO Robotics Tournament to be hosted at Cincinnati state.  Cincinnati movers, Lincoln Storage Company is proud to announce this awesome achievement.  According to http://clifton-corryville.fox19.com, “More than 150 middle school students from southwestern Ohio will visit Cincinnati State on Saturday, December 3 to participate in a FIRST LEGO League robotics competition.  Cincinnati State’s gymnasium will be converted into a field of play for 16 teams that will be competing in the day-long tournament.

This year’s challenge involves the theme of food safety. To successfully complete it, the teams must conduct research, then build and program a LEGO® MINDSTORMS robot to explore the ways in which food can become contaminated – from exposure to insects and creatures, to unsterile processing and transportation, to unsanitary preparation and unsafe storage.”

This will be a great experience for all the middle school students and also the community.  Come and support the students as they utilize their skills and talents.

Air Force Marathon in Dayton, Ohio

Ever ran a marathon?  Ever wanted to?  The annual Air Force Marathon is filling all of it slots faster than ever as marathons are becoming more and more popular.   To help meet the demand an extra thousand slots have been added.  Running seems to be the new trend, as even the shorter 5K and 10K runs are filling up quickly - which is expected due to the fact that there is not nearly as much training required for them.  If you were planning on running in either event, there is a price increase going into effect June 2, with the proceeds from the 13,000 runners amounting to an impressive $4 million goes into the local economy. Dayton, Ohio movers, Lincoln Storage company, is so proud of the individuals who are taking part in this event.  More information can be found the Air Force Marathon website www.usafmarathon.com.

Armed Forces Family Aid Concert-Saturday, April 30th 2011

There will be a huge event on Saturday April 30th in Dayton, Ohio.  The Organization, “A Dollar to Care” is hosting an Armed Forces Family Aid Concert at the Jackass Flats.  This event is in honor for those brave men and women who serve our country.  According to an article on www.examiner.com, “The Armed Forces Family Aid Concert starts at 2 p.m. and runs all day offering a full line-up of musical guests, guest speakers, comedians, and activists all gathering together to raise awareness and funds for “A Dollar To Care”.
According to the www.examiner.com, “A Dollar To Care” is a non-profit organization that was formed in 2010 to assist the families of soldiers who have been or are in the process of being charged with crimes during combat.  Many of these cases were due to violations of the United Nations rules of engagement that at times blur the line between defending themselves against the enemy in war zones and regulations that seem to be designed to protect the enemy”
Again, if you are interested in taking part of this great cause, it will take place on Saturday, April 30th at 2 p.m.  and goes until 11p.m. For more information about this event, please visit www.adollartocare.org

Bank Thief Uses Public Bus as Getaway Vehicle

If you’re going to rob a bank, (which you should never, ever, do), it may be a good idea to arrange for a getaway driver, or at least your own personal mode of transportation away from the scene. This past week, a KeyBank branch located in downtown Dayton was robbed by a man who fled the scene on a public bus. That’s correct. Witnesses saw the would-be thief catch a public bus just a couple blocks away from the bank in question

Officers ended up following the bus route, pulling the bus over just a mile away from the bank, near the campus of Sinclair Community College where they arrested the thief. Police won’t say how much money was originally stolen, but it has all since been recovered. No word on whether or not the thief used any of the money to pay for his bus ride.

Winter Storms Not Over for Dayton

As your Dayton movers, we sure you’re just like us feeling the repercussions from the heavy storms today! Storms with heavy rain, hail and strong winds caused power outages and flooded roads and homes in Ohio, as well as areas in Indiana. The National Weather Service announced that flood warnings were in effect for all 80 counties in Ohio. Sandbags were distributed over the weekend to help with any flooding. Sixty MPH winds damaged roofs and took down power lines, causing widespread outages for up to 31,000 Ohio residents. These warnings are remaining in effect until this evening.

If you’re living in Ohio, we at Lincoln Storage hope you stayed safe during the storms!
